North Korea's artillery barrage sparks evacuation in South Korea, maritime border tensed

North Korea fired over 200 artillery rounds into the sea near the heavily guarded maritime border with South Korea, prompting the evacuation of residents on two South Korean islands due to an unknown "situation." The South Korean defense ministry did not confirm if the evacuation was in response to North Korea's artillery firing or South Korean drills. A text message mentioned "naval fire" by South Korean troops from 3 pm (0600 GMT) on Friday, leading to the evacuation ordered at the request of the South Korean military.
