Two Moscow Poets Jailed for Anti-Ukraine Poetry, Deny 'Inciting Hatred'"Two men, Artyom Kamardin and Yegor Shtovba, received lengthy prison terms for reciting poetry critical of the Ukraine invasion. They faced charges of "inciting hatred" towards the country's soldiers. The poets, detained in September 2022 after criticizing President Vladimir Putin's war mobilization, received sentences of 7 and 5.5 years, respectively. Both deny the charges, with Kamardin reporting hospitalization and alleging sexual assault during his arrest. In court, Kamardin expressed unawareness of breaking the law and pleaded for mercy.
