IAF gets first C-295 plane: Know how the military transport plane will boost IAF’s tactical airlift capability

The Indian Air Force got its first C-295 transport plane on September 13 during a ceremony in Spain's Seville. The keys of the C-295 plane were handed over to Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari. The plane has been made for India by global aircraft manufacturer Airbus at its facility in Seville. The contract for 56 such planes, worth nearly Rs 22,000 crore, was signed in September 2021. As per the contract, the first 16 planes will be manufactured in Spain, while the remaining 40 will be made in India under a joint venture of Airbus and Tatas at their facility in Vadodara.
