Karnataka Minister HK Patil ensures investigation in killing of Jain monk

Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister of Karnataka HK Patil on July 12 called the murder of a Jain monk as ‘unfortunate’. He also ensured that the Karnataka government would take all necessary steps to investigate the matter and catch the culprits as soon as possible. “It is really unfortunate, it is shameful for the whole society and humanity that such a brutal murder has taken place...Govt of Karnataka will take all necessary steps to investigate and book the culprits as soon as possible...They (BJP) are in a habit of making loose allegations. This is the time when we should show the society that the whole political system is against this type of crime...” said HK Patil. Police recovered body parts of the Digambar seer from a defunct borewell in a field in Chikkodi in Belagavi district on July 08. The monk was reported missing by the manager of the Ashram where he used to stay and two persons have been arrested in this connection. Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara on Monday said there is no need for a Central Bureau of Investigation probe into the murder case. He met with Gunadhar Nandhi Maharaj at Navgrah Tirth prior to his Chikkodi visit. Union Minister Prahlad Joshi has termed the murder as “highly condemnable”.
