Trinamool Congress leader Shashi Panja expressed her frustration over Prime Minister Narendra Modi not speaking on the Manipur issue since it started except for a three-line statement shared in the parliament. She said that the accountability for the horrific incidents in the northeastern state is not been taken by the Central government. She said, “The Prime Minister gave a three-line statement on Manipur during the Parliament Monsoon Session. We want the suspension of all businesses and have a discussion on Manipur. But even after two days, there is no statement from the Prime Minister. The Centre is not ready to accept the reality of Manipur. While Manipur was burning, the Prime Minister was busy campaigning in Karnataka. He attended many international events but did not reach Manipur.”She added, “When it comes to the issue of Howrah, our DG Police Manoj Malviya held a press conference and spoke about the topic. The moment the Howrah police received an email complaint over the issue they took immediate action. But the complainant did not appear as he was supposed to. There was a huge line at the time of polling. Such a big incident occurred and no one attested to it? If you ask the locals no one is saying such an incident occurred.”A BJP worker from Howrah’s South Panchala in West Bengal has claimed that she was dragged outside the polling booth and her clothes were ripped off adding that she has filed an FIR in the incident.
