“India-Pak relationship’s fundamental issue is of terrorism…” says S Jaishankar on Pak’s economic crisis

External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar on February 23 attended the Inaugural Session of the Asia Economic Dialogue 2023 in Pune, Maharashtra. During the media interaction, EAM Jaishankar said that India-Pak’s relationship’s fundamental issue is of terrorism and that no country will ever come out of a difficult situation and become a prosperous power if its basic industry is terrorism.During the media interaction at the inaugural session of the Asia Economic Dialogue 2023 in Pune today, he said, “The reality of this relationship is that it has a fundamental issue that we cannot and must not avoid is of terrorism. A country has to fix its economic issue, a country has to fix its political issue and social issue too. No country is ever going to come out of a difficult situation and become a prosperous power if its basic industry is terrorism.”He also said, “But, it’s an equal fact that any county that gets into a serious economic problem that country has to make policy, choices, and governance decisions to get themselves out of it. Another neighbour, non- neighbour or another institution, others cannot solve a problem if you are not prepared to solve it yourself. Any country in deep economic difficulties has to come out of it through what the world can do is to provide options and support systems. The country must fix its social and political issues. If I plan any scheme or decision for a country, I must also consider the people’s perspective. What they want, they (Pakistan) must think about this. If any country faces a deep economic crisis, not only Pakistan but other countries too. They must fix their plans and decisions in the favour of people.”
